Avi Carr-Gloth is a Sports Multimedia Journalist who joined WMAR in May 2026.
Growing up, Avi lived in Toledo, Ohio, before moving to New Rochelle, New York, partway through middle school. After high school, he moved to Boston, where he graduated from Emerson College with a degree in Journalism.
His first job out of college was at NESN (New England Sports Network), working behind the scenes on the Red Sox broadcast production team. He then got his first reporting job covering sports in West Texas at KMID/KPEJ. He comes to WMAR from WGBA in Green Bay, where he filled a jack-of-all-trades role covering everything from sports to news and even the weather.
There is nothing Avi loves more than using sports as a vehicle to tell stories that resonate with the local community and bring together people who otherwise would have little in common. Even though he grew up a Cleveland sports fan, Avi cannot wait to experience the passion of Baltimore sports, from the pros to local colleges and high schools.
When he's not at work, Avi loves watching and playing sports, exercising, trying new recipes, watching Star Wars, and catching up with friends and family.
