Hopefully this isn't the only good news for travelers hitting the roads this Thanksgiving, but gas prices are really low.

According to GasBuddy prices in 44 of the 50 states are lower than a week ago.  It's projected the national average for gas prices this Thanksgiving will be $2.11 a gallon.  Let's put that in perspective: in 2014 the average price per gallon was $2.79.

Patrick DeHaan, Senior Petroleum Analyst at GasBuddy said from Wednesday Nov. 23 through Sunday Nov. 27 drivers, collectively, will be saving nearly $1.7 billion at the pump than the five year average.

"This year will go down as the first in over a decade that no state, not even traditional pricey Hawaii or California, has seen its average daily price breach $3 per gallon," he said.

This is good news to commuters who, according to GasBuddy, will be taking the roads for at least a four hour drive, 20 percent of those surveyed in GasBuddy's 2016 Thanksgiving Travel survey say they'll be driving 10 or more hours.
