BALTIMORE — On Friday, students at Bryn Mawr, along with students from Roland Park and Gilman walked out of class over claims a black teacher was mistreated.

That teacher later left Bryn Mawr, with protest organizers saying it was over improper treatment following racially charged incidents.

Students at the protest didn't go into detail, but added they faced their own racial microaggressions in school.

"Oftentimes we are not as encouraged to go after opportunities like advanced classes or we're kind of deferred from applying to HBCU's which are at the exact opposite of our institution."

The teacher who left the school and who spurred this protest, was not involved in the protest.

We did reach out to her and are waiting to hear back.

We did hear back from Bryn Mawr, though they did not comment on the teacher's situation.

However they did say they support their students "Using their bold voices for a better world."
