TOWSON, Md. — Nine people were taken to the hospital following a 3-Alarm Towson apartment fire Monday night.

It happened at Berkshires at Town Center Apartments.
Jennifer O’Brien took WMAR-2 News back to when she first noticed something was wrong.
“I was walking my dog, and I heard a woman yelling ‘Help me, help me, help me!” And then all the emergency equipment started pulling up," O'Brien said.
Fire Chief Joseph Dixon said that at 7:35 Monday night, they got a call about a fire at the Berkshire at Town Center apartments.
Crews arrived to find fire and smoke on the 3rd floor.
Thankfully Chief Dixon said it was contained to that area.
“Everything again, along with the building system and our personnel we were able to hold the fire in check. Smoke can become just as much of a hazard in some cases or a threat to life as fire," Dixon told us.
The fire department had to work quickly to rescue the people in harm's way.
“It was really awful because you could see people pounding on their windows trying to get the attention of the fire trucks to come and get them out," O'Brien said.
Officials don’t yet have a number for how many people had to be evacuated.
Dr. Tara T A’Daora, owner of A’Daora Trichology & Wellness right by the apartments, told WMAR-2 News that many of the people who were displaced ran into her business.
“People just flooded my salon so they’re in the salon, they’re also downstairs but I’m probably housing about 80 people - men, women, children, I probably have about 40 dogs," ADaora said.
Authorities say the flames were extinguished shortly after 8pm.
