Parents can get the tools they need to help their children learn to read at workshops offered by Baltimore County Public Schools.

The 90-minute workshops will help parents  or guardians understand literary development for preschoolers while teaching parents activities to motivate and engage their kids.

The sessions focus on concepts of print, writing, phonics, comprehension and oral language.

Workshops are scheduled on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Woodlawn branch of the Baltimore County Public Library, and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rosedale branch of the library.

The first workshop is Wednesday, Sept. 21, with additional workshops set for Sept. 28, Oct. 5, Oct. 19 and Nov. 5.
