Every day in the US, at least 9 people die and 100 are injured in distracted driving crashes.
From cell phones to dashboard touchscreens, distractions while driving can pose a serious threat to our safety. This problem has grown so large that the National Safety Council has dedicated April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month to recognize the dangers of and eliminate preventable deaths from distracted driving.
Maryland prohibits the use of handheld phones while driving, including writing and reading text messages.
