BALTIMORE — Otis underwent rapid intensification going from a tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane in a matter of hours. Peak winds were estimated at 165 mph according to the National Hurricane Center.
The storm made landfall near Acapulco overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday morning.
As of Wednesday afternoon Otis weakened to a tropical depression, after making landfall.
