I know most of us have been getting reacquainted with the Greek Alphabet this year. It's been a crazy Atlantic Hurricane Season! As you already know, this hurricane season is the most active season on record.

Looks like we're going to keep adding to that list. Tropical Storm Iota developed this afternoon and is forecast to become a major hurricane over the next couple of days. What worse, it looks like it will be bringing damaging wind and catastrophic rain to the same areas that were impacted by Hurricane Eta less than two weeks ago!

Currently Tropical Storm Iota has winds sustained at 40mph, and is moving very slowly towards the west southwest. It is moving into an area that is favorable for development--and all data points point to the system rapidly intensifying into a Category 3 storm before landfall.

Flooding and mudslides from very heavy rainfall will be top of mind for folks in Central America being that recovery efforts from Eta are still underway. Unlike Eta, this system is not forecast to bring impacts to the United States.
