Twitter expands character limit

Twitter gave everyone 280 characters per tweet Tuesday.

Prior to the change, Twitter users only had 140 characters.

Twitter began testing the longer tweets in late September.

According to the company, most people in the test group didn't use all of the available characters.

The Law and Order SVU  account seized the opportunity to tweet the show's intro in one tweet.

President Trump, meantime, took advantage of the extra characters a couple times so far.

Tweets in Japanese, Korean, or Chinese still have the 140 character limit.
