Police: Group of teens try to cross train tracks, boy struck

LAUREL, Md. — A teenager who was struck by a train in Maryland is in a hospital with critical injuries.

News outlets report several teenagers were trying to cross train tracks Monday evening in Laurel when the boy was hit. Prince George’s County police Cpl. Kyndle Johnson says the teenager didn’t make it completely across the tracks.

The teen hasn’t been identified. Police initially said he had non-life-threatening injuries. Police now say the teen is in critical but stable condition.

Maryland Area Regional Commuter Train Service was affected Monday evening. No injuries on the train were reported.
