A national organization that previously supported Governor Hogan announced they will not support his re-election.

Earlier this year, Governor Hogan signed a couple gun control bills into law, which has the NRA taking back its support.

Those new laws are set to go into effect on October 1.

The Red Flag Law allows people to petition to have a gun owner's weapons taken away if they believe the person poses a threat to themselves or to others. The Handgun Permit Review Law changes the process people who are denied gun permits can make an appeal.

For signing those into law, the NRA has not only downgraded the Republican governor from a grade 'A' to a 'C', but they took away their endorsement of him as well.

Meanwhile, his Democratic challenger Ben Jealous received a grade 'F' from the NRA for his stance on tighter gun restrictions.

The National Rifle Association says even though they backed Hogan in 2014, they cannot support either candidate for the 2018 gubernatorial election.

Following a school shooting in Maryland, Governor Hogan met with students at Great Mills High School this summer and told them he would reject the NRA's support this time around if he were to receive their endorsement.
