Thousands brave the cold for annual Turkey Trot 5K

TOWSON, Md (WMAR) - Thousands of people bundled up and hit the pavement for the 'Y' in Central Maryland’s annual Turkey Trot Charity 5K.

Races are held across the state.

WMAR-2 caught up with some runners in Towson, including Mike Lashley who explained why he still participates in such cold temperatures;

“There's nothing better to do then to be out in the morning and in the sun, you know, warm up Thanksgiving. Gotta run the pounds off before you start eating them.”

Proceeds from the event benefit families who need help affording 'Y' programs such as preschool, camp and membership.
