UPDATE:

Investigators have determined that a lightning strike caused the three-alarm fire. According to Baltimore County Fire Bureau Chief Frances, at least 15 families have been displaced.

Fire crews responded to the 1800 block of Rambling Ridge Lane for reports of an apartment fire. When they arrived, they found heavy fire through the roof and quickly requested additional personnel to the scene.

Nearly 100 firefighters helped fight the blaze.

There was a partial collapse of the roof and interior staircase. No civilians were injured.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries but have since been released from hospitals.

The Bureau Chief said multiple pets died in the fire.

There was a 3-alarm fire in an apartment building in Pikesville Thursday around 3:30pm.

It happened in the 1800 block of Rambling Ridge Lane and was initially called a 2-alarm fire.

Once on the scene, Baltimore County firefighters saw the roof of the building. A partial collapse was reported.

Baltimore County posted these pictures of the damage of social media.

No injuries have been reported at this time. Multiple pets were removed from the scene.
