BALTIMORE — A man died overnight Sunday after being shot on a school parking lot along East Cross Street in Federal Hill.

The lot belongs to the Federal Hill Preparatory School and is located just one block away from the Cross Street Market.
Baltimore police say the shooting happened Sunday morning around 1:54 a.m.
Investigators arrived at the scene to find Charles Brothers lying unresponsive on the ground. December 28 was his birthday, according to police. He'd just turned 32.
Paramedics pronounced him dead. Homicide detectives are now investigating.
Police have since arrested 31-year-old Davahughn Johnson in connection to the shooting.
He's been charged with first-degree murder.
"I love to say that it's a safe neighborhood but this is the second murder in about a six or seven week span all within a 500 foot radius of here and it's concerning," neighbor Mike Schaffer told WMAR-2 News.
“Hearing those things, it’s definitely not surprising but it’s definitely unsettling," another neighbor, Barrett Campbell, said.
In November, a 37-year-old man died in a double shooting a few blocks away.
Schaffer saw the police vehicles early Sunday morning, but didn't think much of it due to the typical bustling nightlife in the area on the weekends.
Schaffer says he spoke to a neighbor who has a Ring camera pointed directly at the lot, who believes he caught the entire situation unfold.
"He told me that there was a group of individuals in that parking lot hanging out late night while listening to music, doing whatever. There was a dispute between a couple and a third individual," Schaffer explained. “The third individual went over by the dumpster, possibly to relieve himself and then... the guy from the couple went to his car, retrieved a handgun and essentially shot [the victim] in the head execution style."
The video in question was unable to be independently verified by WMAR-2 News who could not reach the owner of the footage, but Schaffer says he believes it's been turned over to police.
The school building also appeared to have at least one security camera that faces the lot, though it's unclear if it was operational at the time or if police have been able to review the footage.
WMAR-2 News also reached out to police to confirm if this information was accurate, but were told the investigation is still in its early stages.
“I don’t necessarily feel less safe than I did a day ago," Schaffer said. “I’m not sure what the solution is, what actions need to be taken on a higher level, you know city council, the mayor’s level. I just would like to see some accountability in these types of incidents."
