Desperately in need of space to take in more animals, the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Society is waiving adoption fees through Sunday, Sept. 9 at the organization's 301 Stockholm Street shelter.

BARCS said they took in 350 animals in the past week. As an open-admission shelter, they have to take in all animals that come to them in need, BARCS said.

"Our facility only has so many cages, and a large influx of stray and surrendered animals quickly creates an urgent situation," BARCS said on their Facebook page. "We need as many animals to leave with positive outcomes as we are taking in, otherwise, animals could be at risk."

BARCS said they have hundreds of healthy and happy potential pets ready to be adopted. Adopters are encouraged to come to the shelter sooner rather than later this weekend, as more animals will arrive each day and the shelter does not have space.

"Please help us save the lives of animals in our shelter," BARCS said. "If you cannot adopt, please, please, please share this past in hopes that it will reach someone who can. These animals deserve a good outcome, but we can't do it without our communities' help."
