Woman suffers second-degree burns in dwelling fire on Friday

CHURCHVILLE, Md. — A woman was transported to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center for second-degree burns after her home caught fire on Friday.

Fire officials say that the fire began just before midnight on Friday in the living room of the home. The woman, who was transported to the hospital, suffered burns to 18 percent of her body and suffered smoke inhalation as well.

One family dog died as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time, and officials ask that anyone with information contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal at (410) 836-4844.
