SEVERN, md. — A woman was killed in a Sunday afternoon ATV crash in Severn.
Just after 4 p.m., an ATV was travelling near Queenstown Road and Ayrshire Court when the driver lost control. The ATV began to rotate and both riders flew off.
The driver, Charles Burnell Dailey, remained conscious and called 911 for assistance. Karen Joyce Herrera Roces, 28, sustained critical injuries and was transported for treatment. Roces died of her injuries the next day. The driver declined treatment at the scene.
Police say the preliminary cause of this crash is driver error and speed. Alcohol or drug use do not appear to be a contributing factor in this crash. The investigation is ongoing.
