HANOVER, Md. — An individual died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday evening following an hours long stand off in the Daily Garage at BWI Airport.
According to MDTA Police, at around 10:50 a.m., officers found the subject armed with a firearm in a vehicle in the garage.
The subject was connected to a "Be on the Lookout" from Howard County Police.
After establishing a perimeter, negotiators spoke with the subject and attempted to resolve the incident peacefully. Just before 7 p.m., officers heard a gunshot come from inside the vehicle.
Officers approached the vehicle and located the subject suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. BWI Fire Department Medics, who were already on the scene, attempted to render aid, but the subject died due to the injuries.
Police say at no point was there a threat to public safety.
