Coming off the heels of another violent weekend in Baltimore, shots continued to fire through Monday morning.
The first shooting of the day was at 2:30 in the morning in the 400 block of South Bentalou Street. Officers were originally canvassing Wilkens Ave and Smallwood Street after reports of shots fired but were called to South Bentalou while investigating.
When they got to the scene they found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound in the back. Preliminary investigations show that the man was in the 2100 block of Wilkens Ave when a person starting firing into a crowd. The man then ran to South Bentalou where police were called.
Then seven hours later, police were called to the 2400 block of Jefferson Street for a reported shooting. When they got to the scene they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital but ended up dying from his injuries.
This was the seventh shooting since Friday when organizers kicked off a ceasefire weekend, asking people to stop shooting each other for 72 hours.
