A 22-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of his 8-month-old son, Baltimore Police said.
Darrow Keith Coady is charged with second-degree murder.
Around 10:20 a.m. Monday, police were called to an apartment in the 5600 block of Sinclair Lane for a report of a person not breathing. When officers, arrived they found a baby, Darrow Coady III, unconscious and being treated by members of the Baltimore City Fire Department. The infant was transported to an area hospital with visible injuries, and he where he died a short time later.
An autopsy was conducted Tuesday and the infant's death was ruled a homicide by blunt force trauma.
At around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, members of the Northwest District received a tip that Coady was at the Mondawmin Metro station. He was arrested without incident.
Maria Roman, a resident of the neighborhood, said she was shocked to hear the news.
"It's so quiet around here, it's peaceful," Roman said. "I didn't know that something like that would happen around here. I'm really shocked, I'm sorry to hear that."
