Fierce Winds To Rip Through Maryland

Posted at
and last updated

Strong winds will accompany a push of colder air moving into Maryland tonight through Sunday.

High wind warnings are posted for the entire ABC 2 viewing area.  Sustained West winds of 20-30 mph are expected, along with wind gusts up to 60 mph.

Winds could be locally damaging. Downed trees, power lines and minor structural damage are concerns. Driving high profile vehicles in conditions like these are especially dangerous. Extra precautions will certainly need to be taken if travel is planned over any of the area bridges.

The GFS model (pictured above) shows widespread wind gusts of 50-60mph early Sunday morning.
