Late Saturday night, Tropical Storm Eta was named, becoming the 28th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Eta is moving west near 15 mph and is heading closer to Central America. Dangerous storm surge, life-threatening flash flooding, and hurricane-force winds are expected along the coasts of Nicaragua and Honduras--so Tropical Storm Warnings and Hurricane Warnings are underway. The system is expected to reach hurricane status overnight and will make landfall Monday night or Tuesday in Nicaragua.
Never before have we reach the name "Eta" on the Greek Alphabet. We can now check "Eta" off the list. This officially ties the record for most named storms! Next up on the list is "Theta".
We will continue to monitor Eta.
