Not too hot for the playground

The last few days have been a scorcher. It's no surprise that we flirted with 100 degrees Friday and Saturday... it's all my kids talked about! The heat... it was unbearable to be outside. Yet, I had the bright idea to go to the playground and have a picnic outside. I though we could beat the heat if we went before noon. As we arrived at the playground the kids ran to the swings. Only to jump on them, and jump off screaming "it's hot, it's hot". So we tried climbing up things, but the slide was burning hot to even try to come down. We found some shade where the kids looked like they were melting away. Who's idea was it to come here in the first place? Oh yea, that was mine, the meteorologist. I had no idea playground equipment got so hot, so fast. So parents, this blog is for you today. MONDAY will be the coolest day of the week. In fact it will be slightly below normal in the mid 80s. The kids for sure can enjoy the park before noon. Even stopping off and getting an ice cream cone will be able to last at least 10 minutes before turning into a sticky mess all over your toddlers hands. Skip the playground Tuesday thru Sunday, unless you just want to hear them cry about the heat and hot equipment. Leave those days for the pool and refreshing watermelon!
