BALTIMORE — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued new guidance calling for everyone in K-12 schools to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

Federal health officials made the call due to a rise in COVID-19 cases across the country, thanks in large part to the highly contagious Delta Variant.

WMAR-2 News has reached out to school systems throughout Maryland to find out if or when they plan to follow CDC guidelines.

Below are the public school districts who have moved to require masks this upcoming academic year.

  • Charles County
  • Frederick County
  • Garrett County
  • Harford County
  • Howard County
  • Kent County
  • Montgomery County
  • Prince George's County
  • Queen Anne's County
  • St. Mary's County
  • Talbot County
  • Washington County
  • Wicomico County

Schools in Carroll, Cecil, Dorchester, Somerset, and Worcester counties have made mask wearing optional.
