Terps, Towson lacrosse advance in conference tournaments

Towson and Maryland men's lacrosse have advanced to their respective conference tournament championship games. Both won semifinal games on Thursday.

Towson, the top seed in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, defeated No. 4 Drexel 8-4 in the CAA Semifinal.  Mike Lynch, Tyler Young and Tyler Konen each scored two goals for the Tigers.  They will face No. 3 UMass in the CAA title game on Saturday. That game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Towson's Johnny Unitas Stadium.  Thursday's game was also played at Unitas Stadium.

The Terrapins, who are the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, edged No. 4 Penn State in the conference semifinal in Columbus, Ohio.

Connor Kelly scored the final four goals for the Terps, who will play host Ohio State in Saturday's Big Ten Championship. That game is slated for 7:30 p.m.

The No. 2 Buckeyes got past No. 3 Johns Hopkins 15-13 in the other semifinal. 

Tre Leclaire paced the Buckeyes with six goals.  

Shack Stanwick scored at team-high four goals for the Blue Jays.
