Loyola's redshirt freshman, Sabrina Tabasso scored with 56 seconds remaining in double overtime to secure the No. 19 Greyhounds' an 8-7 victory over No. 16 Johns Hopkins in a soggy defensive thriller Wednesday night.
Senior goalie Molly Wolf stopped five shots in the two overtime periods to keep the Greyhounds (1-2) alive. Wolf finished with 10 saves, making her second double-digit save performance of the season and 17th of her career.
Senior Maddy Blakefman, junior Cami Whiteford and Tabasso all recorded two goals. Freshman Hannah Powers added one goal and an assist. Sophomore Frankie Kamely finished with one goal.
The Blue Jays' (3-1) Halley Schweizer had a game-high three goals.
Hopkins entered the half with a 5-4 lead.
Storms moved rapidly through the Baltimore area Wednesday resulting in a two hour and five minute weather delay. The Blue Jays were the first to score following the delay.
In the final minute of regulation, sophomore Margaret Filipelli forced a turnover. Wolf save a 1-v-1 shot opportunity as time expired, sending the game into overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime period, Tabasso hit the game winner at the end of the second overtime period.
The Greyhounds host the Towson Tigers Sunday at 1 p.m.
