WINDSOR MILL, Md. — Milford Mill Academy's football program enters the new season with momentum, a physically stronger roster, and a standard that hasn't changed in years: win a state championship.

Head coach Reggie White, who has led the Millers since 2003, says this year's team has the potential to stand out in the program's storied history. The roster skews younger, but White likes their mix and physical strength — and now he's focused on sharpening their mental game.
"We've been in the weight room since January, and these guys are stronger. Now we just got to get that mental to catch up with that strength, football-ready, and we're going to be alright. We'll be alright," White said.
The results of the program's approach speak for themselves. The Millers have posted a winning record in 10 consecutive seasons, including a 10-1 record last year when they shut out their opponents 5 times.
Part of building that winning culture is how hard White pushes his players in practice — but senior running back Raemond Williams says the coaching staff's approach goes beyond intensity.
"He coaches hard, but they also, as a coaching staff as a whole, they bring us back up at the end of the day. You want somebody that can bring you up and then still coach you hard. I appreciate that from the whole coaching staff," Williams said.
That confidence-building shows up in how players carry themselves on the field. Junior cornerback Mason Sheppard says the team's focus is on eliminating weak links from top to bottom.
"Everybody is trying to look like a one. So when everybody look like a one, there's nobody that you can tell is a weak link. We always as strong as our weakest. We're trying to make sure there's no weak links," Sheppard said.
Senior lineman Blake Bradley says the program's goal has never wavered.
"Our standard is states and winning as many games as possible. Going undefeated all throughout the regular season, and it's never changed. It will always be states," Bradley said.
Milford Mill opens its season against Dunbar on September 4th at the Under Armor Stadium complex in Baltimore.
