Blind swimmer from Maryland wins gold in Paralympics

A Paralympian from Canton has won a gold medal in swimming. 

Brad Snyder, a Navy veteran who was blinded while in Afghanistan in 2011, won his second gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle. He finished the swim in 4:28:78.

Snyder trains at Loyola University. 

Silver medalist Tharon Drake, another American, was clocked at 4:40.96.

And another local swimmer, Becca Meyer of Timonium, got a gold in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:24.66.
