The year was 1989.
The season started with Cal Ripken hitting a homer on Opening Day against Boston ace Roger Clemens. Longtime grounds keeper, the late Pat Santarone had some choice words for Roger who complained about the mound at Memorial Stadium.

The year before the Orioles opened the season 0-21.
Fast forward to a September weekend in Toronto. The Orioles and the Blue Jays were going for the Divisional crown. The Orioles were one game back with three to play.
It was September 29th, when Gregg Olson who had the greatest curve ball, bounced one in the dirt. Catcher Jamie Quirk could not stop it and the Blue Jays would tie the game in the 8th and win it in the 11th.
The next day, Pete Harnish stepped on a nail and emergency starter Dave Johnson got the ball. He pitched the game of his life but the Orioles lost 4-3 and the Why Not season came to an end.
Fast forward to 2016... it's a Why Not Tuesday in Toronto.
