40th Crab Pot Tournament takes the ice

The 40th Crab Pot college hockey tournament took to the ice at Naval Academy's McMullen Arena on Friday.

Navy and Towson secured wins in the semifinals.

In the first semifinal of the night the Tigers defeated UMBC 8-2.

The second semifinal saw the Midshipmen edge the Maryland Terrapins 5-4 in overtime. The Terps scored a pair of late goals with an extra attacker to push the game to OT.

The tournament continues on Saturday.  Maryland and UMBC will play in the consolation game at 5:30 p.m.

Navy and Towson will play for the Crab Pot championship at 8:30 p.m.

The Mids have won five of the last six Crab Pot titles.
