PASADENA, Md. — Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in Pasadena.

Just after 1 p.m., neighbors across Back Creek called the fire department advising they could see a house on fire across the creek.

Fire officials found the house on fire in the 7900 block of Central Road.

One victim, 54-year-old John Salvatore Billing was pulled from the fire, he was in a wheelchair. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Billing lived in the home with his mother. She was not home at the time of the fire.

Michael Dolch, a neighbor, said his sons alerted him that the Billing's house was on fire, he immediately called 911.

Later on he found out about Billing who was unable to make it out alive.

“It was shocking. I was talking with some folks at my work and you never think about, you hear all like get fire extinguishers, fire alarms but you never think about people with disabilities coming out, so that was kind of something that hit my head and I told my work mates that its something you don’t think about but we probably should," said Dolch.

Anne Arundel County and Annapolis City Fire investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.

Family and friends have since put together a GoFundMe for Billing.
