It was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Dozens more were injured.
The city of Orlando is planning to turn the once-popular night spot into a memorial. Mayor Buddy Dyer told the media last month that after purchasing the site, the city will leave it as it is for at least another year to allow people to keep paying their respects.
