Maryland State Police confirm that two people have died from an accident Wednesday night in Frederick.

Officers were called to the crash on northbound I-270 near Baker Valley Rd before 10 p.m. Police believe a 2013 Chevrolet Corvette was driving northbound speeding when it quickly changed lanes and hit a 2011 black Volkswagon Jetta. The driver of the Corvette lost control and left the road along the right shoulder where it hit a guardrail and several trees before coming to a stop.

The driver and one of the passengers were both declared dead at the scene. The driver has been identified as 55-year-old Craig C. Sandford of Martinsburg, WV and the passenger as 56-year-old Anthony L. Hose of Damascus, Md.

Northbound I-270 was closed for two hours while police investigated; one lane was opened before 12:30 p.m.
