Authorities say a police officer shot and wounded an armed man in a Maryland suburb of Washington.
News outlets report Bladensburg Police Chief Tracy Stone says officers encountered a man with a gun Sunday night, and the man was struck in the lower body and taken to a hospital in critical condition. It's unclear what prompted police to fire.
Police did not say if the man fired his gun.
Prince George's County police are expected to take control of the investigation.
