HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Police in Hagerstown say a girl gave birth to a daughter, and then told authorities she had found in the infant on the back porch.
Officer Heather Aleshire says in a statement that police don't plan to charge the girl in connection with the incident Wednesday morning.
She says police have reported the case to the county's Department of Social Services.
Aleshire says police were called to the home shortly after 7 a.m. after the mother reported she had found a newborn on the porch, wrapped in a plastic bag, in near-freezing temperatures.
Aleshire says the baby was in stable condition and was flown to Children's National Medical Center in Washington.
