November 1 is here, and that means the start of Open Enrollment.

Marylanders can now sign up for health insurance and dental coverage for 2018, and some may be facing higher insurance premiums.

Health officials urge those who don't have health insurance to take a look at plans to see what's available.

Officials say even those who qualify for financial help should still take a look at plans. Many who qualify could find plans that are cheaper than a year ago.

A last-minute rate increase approved by the state insurance administration is expected to affect around 96,000 Marylanders who buy silver plans through the state's health exchange.

The best thing to do is to check which plans are available for you. You can enroll online, over the phone, and even in person at some locations.

There's also a mobile app that people can use called Enroll MHC. It's a free app that can be found in the App Store and Google Play.

The deadline to enroll is December 15th, and plans will kick in starting on January 1, 2018.
