Officer hit by car on Rt. 50 released

An officer struck by a car on Route 50 was released from Shock Trauma late Tuesday night, according to Maryland Transportation Authority Police.

The officer was flown to Shock Trauma after being hit by a car while standing on the shoulder of Route 50 in Annapolis just prior to the Bay Bridge. The officer was out of his car talking to two people on the highway’s shoulder when he was hit.

The other two people are expected to be ok.

Bay Bridge traffic was detoured Tuesday night, causing delays.
