A Prince George's County man has been found guilty in the death of his uncle, after prosecutors say he ordered the hit from jail in order to prevent the uncle from testifying in a double murder trial.
The Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office announced that surveillance video and jailhouse tapes led a jury to reach guilty verdicts Thursday against Brian Mayhew and the two men who prosecutors say carried out the slaying from the outside, Stanley Winston and Anthony Cannon. All three were found guilty on numerous charges, including first-degree murder.
Brian Mayhew's uncle, Nicoh Mayhew, was gunned down in December 2012.
Nicoh Mayhew, a witness, had been set to testify against his nephew, who was charged with the 2011 murders of Anthony McKelvin and Sean Ellis. Mayhew is already serving a life sentence for the double slaying.
