ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — The Latest:
Seven people, including three children, have been displaced from their home following a Monday morning fire in Ellicott City.
It happened along Legends Way near Resort Road, not far from Turf Valley.
Around 6am golfers playing at a nearby course saw smoke and called 911.
Arriving Howard County Fire crews discovered a two-story townhouse engulfed in flames extending to a home next door, prompting a second alarm to be called.
The roof of the first home eventually collapsed. Luckily, no one was inside at the time.
With the help of departments from neighboring counties, including Baltimore and Carroll, the fire was put out by 8:20 a.m.
A pair of Howard County firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion and were treated at a local hospital.
The cause is under investigation.

According to Howard County fire, golfers at a nearby golf course saw smoke and called 911 around 6 a.m. The firefighters who were injured were treated for heat exhaustion. The fire was officially under control by 7:30 a.m.
WMAR-2 News spoke to the neighbor who lived next to the house that caught fire. They said their townhome had minor damage and that no one was inside the townhome where the fire originated.

Two firefighters are being treated for minor injuries after a fire spread to two townhomes in Ellicott City.
The fire broke out before 7:30 a.m. Monday on Legends Way in Ellicott City, not far from the Turf Valley Resort.
According to Howard County Fire and EMS, the roof of at least one of the townhomes collapsed. The fire was put under control around 8 a.m.
No word yet on what started the fire or the nature of the firefighters' injuries.
