CHESAPEAKE CITY, Md. — Cecil County Animal Services is currently without power after the shelter suffered an electrical fire Wednesday morning.

The shelter says that while they do not need people to assist at this time, any donations of water, sodas, snacks, etc for their staff and regular volunteers is appreciated. Volunteers and staff will be working extended hours for the time being and will also be unable to do laundry, so blankets and sheets for the animals is also welcome.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal the fire caused around $50,000.00 in damage.

It took about 20 minutes for 20 firefighters to put out the flames. It's unclear what sparked the fire.
