A water main break caused a sinkhole in Essex, closing some neighborhood streets.

According to the Baltimore Department of Public Works, a water main break happened around noon on Tuesday on Foxcroft Lane. Officials say the break caused water to wash away the dirt under the road, making it unstable.

On Wednesday morning, the water main break turned into a sinkhole, taking a parked car down with the road. Crews were able to pull the car out and start working on repairs.

Baltimore DPW says 50 people were without water as result.

Around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, officials say the water main was repaired and water had been restored to customers.
