A comment yelled by a student in the middle of a power outage left others in a state of panic.
Dumbarton Middle School, which is currently under construction, experienced a power outage and, according to the Baltimore County Police spokeswoman Jennifer Peach, in the middle of the said power outage, a student made a comment about it being because of a shooter. This, and the fact that another fellow student had posted a photo of a plastic gun on their Instagram, caused everyone to panic and call their parents.
However, before the school’s faculty and staff could gain control of the situation, parents began arriving to pull their children out of school. Police were called to help keep everyone calm and to inform parents that there was never a shooter or a gun on the school's grounds.
The student that yelled the comment and the one that posted the plastic gun were both pulled from class.
