The fourth annual "Clear the Shelters" day was held on Saturday.
It's the largest single adoption event in the country. Adoption fees for all pets were waived.
Not only does this day help homeless pets find their forever home, but it raises awareness about the importance of pet adoption and the overcrowding issues that local animal shelters typically experience in the summer months due to spring litters.
The Baltimore Humane Society says they adopted out 17 pets with several applications pending, which could raise that number.
