ESSEX, Md. — Baltimore County police say one man is dead, following a shooting involving officers.
Police were called out to an apartment off Holgate Drive in Essex around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for a disturbance. While they were en route, they learned it was a stabbing.
Once they got inside the apartment, they found a woman who had been stabbed.
They say an armed man was also in the apartment. Several officers opened fire on him "in response to the male subject’s actions." It's not clear what those actions were.
Both the man and woman were rushed to the hospital. The man was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.
One officer was injured in the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
All of the officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. The Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating the case, as it does with all shootings involving police.
