PIKESVILLE, Md. (WMAR) — Maryland State Police are investigating why a Nottingham man was on I-95 when he was struck and killed overnight Tuesday.

It was just before 1:30 a.m., when the driver reported feeling something hit the left side of his car on the northbound side near I-195.

After stopping, the driver reported seeing a man's body lying on the left shoulder.

The pedestrian, identified as 34-year-old Joel Hopkins was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he died.

Police don't believe alcohol, drugs, or speed were a factor in the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Maryland State Police.
