Man arrested after robbing a Baltimore County bank

EDGEMERE, Md. — Baltimore County Police have arrested a man Tuesday afternoon after a bank robbery in Edgemere.

The department said the incident happened around 1 p.m., when a man walked into the M&T Bank at 5236 North Point Boulevard, demanding money and claiming to have a bomb.

Police say the man was given a bag of money with a dye pack inside which exploded all of over the suspect before he left the scene on foot.

Investigators launched an extensive search, combing the area for the suspect, who was later found at a nearby house on N. Snyder Avenue just a few blocks away.

He was arrested and later taken into custody.

WMAR-2 News spoke to witnesses who didn’t want to go camera. They say the area is typically quiet and was shocked to hear a bank they frequently go to was robbed.

“I couldn't believe it,” said a one woman.

Another woman described the situation as, “Very shocking.”

The women said it was a scary situation for the community and that they are glad police got him and it didn’t turn out worse.
