A motorcyclist is hospitalized after attempting to beat out an oncoming train at a railroad crossing.
On Monday evening around 5:30 p.m., Baltimore County Police and the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company responded to an accident at a rail crossing on Ebenezer Road in White Marsh.
An investigation revealed an adult motorcycle rider was attempting to cross a railway as an arm gate was lowering, signaling an oncoming train.
Police say the gate struck the biker, causing him to fall off the motorcycle on to the tracks.
Fire officials say another motorcyclist nearby witnessed the incident and removed the injured rider from the tracks before seeking help. The train then reportedly struck the unmanned motorcycle.
The operator was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
It is unclear if anyone aboard the train was hurt.
Ebenezer Road in between routes 40 and 7 were closed for a period of time.
CSX has taken control of the investigation.
A train is stopped at the location.
