The Baltimore County Police Department is hosting their First Annual Flag Football Camp from July 23 to July 27, department said.
The camp is free for participants, focusing on underprivileged and at-risk children between the ages of eight and 14 nominated by local schools. Instruction includes both "skills and drills" as well as scrimmages.
The sessions take place from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dundalk High School at 1901 Delvale Avenue in Dundalk.
The camp hopes to be a bridge to build relationships between the community and the police department.
"Seeing officers as people, not just uniforms, changes the perception many people have, especially our youth," the department said.
