A street sweeping worker is dead after crossing into traffic and flipping his car into an embankment, hitting a BGE pole.

Baltimore County Police say the crash happened around 3:30 Wednesday morning, while an Artscape Land Maintenance Inc work truck was traveling northbound on Dulaney Valley Road near Fox Chapel. A passerby spotted the lights from the overturned truck in the embankment and called the police.

After an investigation, police discovered the driver, later identified as Charles David Myers, unexpectedly crossed the center line, hit a mailbox and guardrail, overturned, and skidded into a BGE pole where it eventually stopped. Crews from BGE arrived to secure the utility pole so the truck could be removed from the scene.

Myers was declared dead on the scene. Crash team investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.
