Baltimore County Police have identified the officer who shot two bank robbery suspects Friday in Greenspring.

Police said Sgt. Bortner has 20 years of service with the department. He has not been involved in any prior shootings.

The shooting happened after a robbery at Wells Fargo Bank in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road.

The robbery occurred at around 1 p.m. The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers shut down traffic in the area of Old Court and Falls roads in an attempt to block their escape.

Oddis Bernard Colvin Jr., 33, of the 8400 block of Winands Road in Pikesville, was shot and killed by police.

A second man, Michael Eugene Stratton, was also shot, and suffered non- life threatening injuries.
